Driver Hire Group Services Limited

In October 2004 Aberdeen provided a funding package to Driver Hire Group Services Limited, the UK’s largest provider of temporary drivers.

Driver Hire operates through over 100 franchised offices. The first franchise opened in Newcastle in 1987 and the business’s success has been celebrated through numerous accolades in industry and road safety awards over the last ten years.

The investment enabled the shareholder base of the company to be restructured and to support the future development of the business. As part of this Chris Chidley was appointed Chief Executive. Chris had previously worked for GE Capital Fleet Services both in the UK and overseas before taking up the role of Strategy Director at Kingston Communictions plc. He had also worked for Avis Rent-a-Car where he helped to grow both the managed and franchised parts of the business.

John Bussey, formerly chairman and chief executive, remains as Executive Chairman retaining a major role in the business he co-founded in 1984.
