In May 2007 Aberdeen backed the Buy-in Management buy-out (“BIMBO”) of ATR Group, a market leader in the rental of specialised tools and equipment for the offshore oil and gas industry.

ATR Group comprises five separate companies which provide a comprehensive range of specialist and certified tools and equipment for rental, plus a supporting range of services and products. The companies in the group are Aberdeen Tool Rental, ATR Plant Services, ATR Hydraulics, ATR Engineering and ATR Industrial Supplies. Based in Aberdeen, ATR Group has a turnover in excess of Ł12m and employs 85 people.

Aberdeen provided Ł3.9m of funding to support the experienced incoming management team of Robert Skidmore and Keith Moorhouse in acquiring the business.
