Bill Nixon – Head of Investment
Bill Nixon is head of investment for growth capital. Bill Nixon has almost twenty years experience in corporate finance. In late 2004, Bill was appointed Head of the Growth Capital team at Aberdeen and became the principal fund manager of all managed VCTs. In this role he is also responsible for a team of ten executives across seven UK locations.
His early career was spent with Clydesdale Bank PLC, a subsidiary of National Australia Bank (NAB). In 1991 Bill joined Clydesdale Bank Equity (CBE) as an investment manager, was appointed a director in 1996, and subsequently became director in charge of the CBE business. In 1999 Bill managed the sale of CBE to a private equity fund managed by Aberdeen, and he and his investment team joined Aberdeen to head up their private equity business in the newly opened Glasgow office. During the next five years Bill continued to lead and manage a number of private equity transactions for Aberdeen in Scotland and the North of England, and also helped raise new Limited Partnership and VCT funds.
He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Strathclyde University in 1996. Bill is also member of the Executive Management Committee and regularly sits on the Investment Committee.
