Aberdeen’s Head of Global Emerging Market Equities, Devan Kaloo, remarks that despite the current bear market rally, economic news continues to be poor and company earnings are under pressure. Consequently, while he is upbeat about the longer term prospects for emerging markets given their favourable demographics and positive economic fundamentals, Devan remains cautious in the shorter term.

 | UK Commercial Property: Looking attractive in an international context and versus other asset classes
The UK commercial property market has been the first and fastest to correct in Europe, with capital values down 45% since the start of the real estate downturn. In this May 2009 online presentation, John Danes, Head of UK Research and Investment Strategy at Aberdeen Property Investors, comments that UK property's income return now looks particularly attractive versus other asset classes, and furthermore, that the UK should be the first among European real estate markets to recover. Meanwhile, John notes that although rental levels are continuing to fall sharply, there is increasing evidence that capital values are stabilising, particularly within prime property. .
