Our Asia inc Japan products combine the expertise of our Asia ex-Japan team and the Japan desk who work side-by-side in Singapore. The teams follow a common investment process, emphasising company fundamentals and first-hand research.
Teams cross-cover stocks; investment managers act as generalists. Our experience is that this approach leads to wider terms of reference and more collective input, limiting the effects of personal bias on decision-making.
Historically, our portfolios have confined exposure to Japan to international companies, global leaders and makers of high-tech goods and applications not available elsewhere in the region. The majority of our portfolios comprise stocks from Asia ex-Japan where growth is from a low base and valuations have seemed more attractive.
