Global Emerging Markets Equities

The Global Emerging Market desk operates from London and Singapore. The London team oversees Latin America, Emerging Europe, the Middle East and Africa; the Singapore office has responsibility for Asia.

Aberdeen's GEM product therefore combines the experience of these two teams, yet it operates as one. Each team covers its own area, but investment managers cross cover regions.

We employ a fundamental, bottom-up equity investment style, which we originated in Asia, and which is characterised by intensive, first-hand research and disciplined company evaluation. Stock ideas drive allocations, not vice versa, leading to high stock and country deviations from index. There is a strong awareness of downside risks and, importantly, for this asset class, of corporate governance.
