Health and Safety Policy

We believe keeping every employee safe is one of our main responsibilities

Aberdeen Asset Management’s Board of Directors is fully committed to the Group’s health and safety policy. This states that Aberdeen will:

  • provide every employee with a safe and healthy working environment
  • carry out risk assessments of all premises
  • provide safety training
  • monitor and record all incidents and near misses and report on these in Aberdeen’s annual report

We also expect staff members to take responsibility for following all health and safety rules while at work. Every employee should:

  • immediately report any incidents and near misses
  • be vigilant about health and safety

Health and Safety training

We offer training to:

  • Fire wardens
  • First aid representatives
  • Employees who carry out manual handling
  • Key staff within the Facilities teams

Each employee is given an in-house workstation assessment when they start work, and if they change workstation or get new equipment. Pregnant employees and those with specific needs/difficulties have extra workstation assessments.

All fire wardens and IT staff attend fire training with all first aiders attending the necessary training. All IT and Facilities department staff attend manual handling courses.

An external company carries out fire assessments regularly as well as at any time when there are key changes to our facilities.

Health and Safety Record

In 2010 and 2011, there were no reportable accidents or lost time incidents in our UK, US or Asian offices.
