"We have established the pillars of our CSR programme across seven areas: People and Human Rights, Community and Charity, the Environment, Health and Safety, Suppliers, Corporate Governance, and Responsible Investing."
Aberdeen’s CSR programme begins with and is driven by the board of directors. This senior level commitment is invaluable for helping make CSR a focal point for our business.
Assisting the board is the CSR steering committee which is comprised of heads for each of our seven pillar areas: corporate governance, responsible investing, the environment, people and human rights, health and safety, supplier issues, and community/charitable activities.
The steering committee meets regularly and reports to the board on all aspects of our activities in these areas.
We have worked diligently to make responsible business practices more central to our global operations and to incorporate feedback from our stakeholders more fully into our CSR targets and future plans. This is exemplified in a number of areas, including the increasing number of opportunities available to our employees to support our local communities and the development of our charitable foundation. We have also enhanced our environmental management system throughout our world-wide offices.
In 2012 we look forward to completing a number of CSR-related projects which we believe will make our operations more environmentally friendly, stakeholder conscious, and safety aware.
