How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying for the Graduate Programme in 2013, please apply for the 2012 internship programme. Submit your CV and covering letter to graduate.recruitment@
aberdeen-asset.com
before Friday 10 February 2012.

The cover letter should:

  • Explain why you want to apply for the programme
  • State which stream you are applying for (ie Investment, Distribution or Business). If you have a preference, specify at least two teams within that stream you’d like to work in
  • State in which locations you are able to work (ie Aberdeen, Edinburgh and/or London)
  • Indicate which of the two summer slots you are available for:

Slot A – 14 May to 6 July
Slot B – 9 July to 31 August

Most of our graduate vacancies are filled by people who have been interns at Aberdeen.

What we’re looking for…

Our internships are mainly aimed at students in their penultimate year at university. To be accepted on the programme, you’ll be aiming for at least a 2:1 degree.

Graduates accepted onto our graduate programme typically should have at least a 2:1 degree.

For both programmmes you should also have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High motivation
  • Commitment to a training process
  • Commitment to working in the asset management industry
  • An interest in working in a particular area of our business, eg: fixed income, equities, business development
  • Interests outside of your studies
  • The legal right to work in the UK

We’re taking the next applications for internships in December 2011.

  • Interviews with HR and an Aberdeen manager
May-September
  • Internships take place
  • Internship evaluations (self-evaluation, supervisor evaluation and a closing interview)
  • Interns shortlisted for the graduate scheme
  • Shortlisted interns complete profiling questionnaire before interview
  • Second interviews with head of departments and CEO
  • Graduate offer made

(If we don't have enough graduates we may recruit externally). Any positions available will be advertised in vacancies

February and October the following year
  • Graduates begin (rotation scheme)
 

Personal development profile

If you’re shortlisted for a graduate position, we ask you to complete a personal questionnaire before your interview.

The results form a personal profile report which helps us understand your personal style better. We use this information to make a final decision about who to put forward for our graduate programme. Whatever the outcome, you get to keep a copy of your report.
