Graduate Recruitment

Psychometric Testing

All candidates who are shortlisted for the position of Graduate are psychometrically tested. Psychometric testing provides us with another tool to ensure we hire the right candidates for our vacancies. The tests can either be conducted online or on paper and each category takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The four main categories are:

Numerical Reasoning – this test is made up of maths questions, which are related to percentages and ratios, reading statistics etc. It is also time pressured, which helps assess the candidate’s ability to work under pressure.

Verbal Reasoning - questions are based on the written text provided which make candidates consider the meaning of a statement using only that text.

Abstract Reasoning – made up of questions that might be found in standard IQ tests. It assesses the candidate’s ability to reason and make decisions under pressure.

Memory & Attention - a good measure of ones ability to work under pressure but more importantly, it tests the candidate’s ability to read and follow instructions, as well as interpret the instructions in the most efficient manner. These skills are necessary when reading huge amounts of research and writing stock notes – candidates require to have the ability to extract the most relevant information and data.

Results

The results of the psychometric tests will be recorded and formally reported to the Company. In turn a member of the Human Resources Team will feed back this information to each candidate.
