Where Do We Advertise?
We operate an Internship programme for penultimate year students. We believe Internships give us as a glimpse of what potential employees can achieve. Exceptional performance during an internship can help fast-track you to a second interview.
Our main advertisement features on our own website. However, we also advertise at selected universities throughout the UK via their websites. Our advertisement will direct all applicants to the AAM website where they can get all the information they information on how to apply.
Intern and Graduate positions will appear on our vacancies home page when the positions become available.
What Specific Attributes Are We Looking for in a Graduate?
Applicants should
- Typically have a 2.1 degree
- Have a high level of numeracy (this is tested during the interview process - see para on psychometric testing)
- Demonstrate commitment to a training process
- Demonstrate a commitment to working in the Asset Management Industry
- Demonstrate an interest in working in a particular area of our business i.e. Fixed Income, Equities, Business Development, Risk etc
- Be well rounded and have interests outside of their studies to ensure diversity
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
What Is Our Interviewing Process?
We have the following stages within our interviewing process:-
- Graduates should send a CV and email it along with a covering letter to graduate.recruitment@aberdeen-asset.com or send by mail to the Human Resources Department, 10 Queen's Terrace, Aberdeen, AB10 1YG.
- Confirmation of receipt of the application form will be sent to the Graduate.
- Applications are screened by the Graduate Development team.
- 1st interview with Proposed Recruitment Team
- 2nd interview with Proposed Senior Recruitment Team
- Psychometric testing (this is an optional tool co-ordinated by Human Resources)
- 3rd interview with a Member of the Executive and Chief Executive Officer
Recruitment Timetable
All intern and graduate positions are posted on our main vacancies page. All prospective applicants should refer to this for open positions.
What Kind of Support Can You Expect?
All Graduates will be assigned a mentor during their first 12 months at Aberdeen Asset Management. The mentor will be someone who has been in a similar position and who has been with the Company for several years. There are many benefits to having a mentor, such as improving self-confidence, having the support to help them in early stages of their career and to provide them with an opportunity for networking.
Do We want CV’s or Application Forms?
All applicants will be asked to apply by sending a CV accompanied by a covering letter giving a detailed explanation as to why they want to work in this industry and what skills and attributes you feel would benefit us.
Do We Consider Overseas Applicants?
We consider all potential Graduates who can demonstrate that they are legally entitled to work in the UK. This should be mentioned on your CV or covering letter, as you will be asked to provide proof.
