The 2011 Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open took place at Archerfield Links for a second consecutive year and featured a strong field of Scottish professionals with Scots making up 10 out of the 60 players taking part.
The tournament was won by Scotland’s Catriona Matthew, who finished with a commanding 10-stroke victory. The 41-year-old from East Lothian held a four shot lead heading into the final round after a course record 65 at her home course on the second day of competition.
Committed to Scottish golf at all levels, the Ladies Scottish Open was a natural choice for Aberdeen to become involved with.
First played in 1986, the Ladies Scottish Open has not been a regular LET fixture. It was held in 2007 for the first time in 11 years.
In 2008 when the event became the Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open, Gwladys Nocera from France lifted the tournament trophy.
